The Avalon NL chapter of the Council of Canadians is one of 60 other grassroots chapters across the country.
We are a group of people dedicated to transforming our world so that it benefits people and communities, not just corporate profit and power. Our task is to help spread information on issues of social justice that will spur people to question the current state of affairs, dream up alternatives, and act to make those come about. We are committed to direct action that is driven by robust research and facts and a desire for system-wide changes. We hope you will join us! Another world is possible.

The Council of Canadians operates without a penny of government or corporate money. This financial independence allows our advocacy work to be direct and uncompromising.
We work in solidarity with Indigenous Peoples, migrants and racialized people, regardless of status, and those who face social, economic and environmental injustices.
We advocate for clean water, fair trade, green energy, public health care, public ownership of water
and wastewater infrastructure, and a vibrant democracy.

Our Avalon Chapter began as a St John's based group back in the 1990's. We now encompass the whole of Newfoundland and Labrador with members across the province. We meet once a month via Zoom and participate in Council of Canadians National and Regional initiatives. Our members regularly participate with other activist groups in the province and beyond. Together we work to create a powerful voice for social, economic and environmental change.
