The St. John's chapter of the Council of Canadians and health care allies (including CUPE's Wayne Lucas, the Canadian Health Coalition's Mellissa Newitt, and Leo Broderick from the CoC national board) gathered in Bannerman Park for a visual demo. “Without a health accord, $36 billion is slated to be cut from our public health care. Already, Newfoundland and Labrador has lost $22.4 million in the past year since the accord expired,” says Michael Butler, Health Care Campaigner with the Council of Canadians. “This has a real impact on the health of all Canadians, and it is time the premiers demand that a new health accord be negotiated.” Here are more photos from the event on Flickr.
