Some questions to ask NL candidates in the upcoming election

CLIMATE
  1. Will you stand up to the oil and gas lobby, and champion legislation to end fossil fuel subsidies and all new fossil fuel development permits?
  2. Will you support fossil fuel legislation that winds down the fossil fuel industry, supports affected workers, and leaves no one behind?
  3. How will you ensure that indigenous people, lands and knowledge are meaningful included in climate action plans and planning processes?
  4. Do you support a Green New Deal that transforms high emissions sectors like energy, transportation, food and housing into zero-carbon public services?

WATER
  1. How will you ensure that First Nations finally get the resources and power they need to provide clean drinking water on reserves?
  2. Will you champion direct federal funding to municipalities to invest in much needed water and waste water infrastructure projects?
  3. Do you support giving the Canada Water AgePncy a strong regulatory mandate?
  4. Who do you think should decide how highly radioactive waste is disposed of?

Proportional Representation
  1. Will you support a national Citizens' Assembly on electoral reform before the next election?

Long-Term Care​
  1. What is your position on removing profit from long-term care?
  2. Will you commit to working towards federally regulated and enforceable national standards for long-term care?

Big Pharma
  1. What will you do in the face of Big Pharma's bullying tactics?
  2. What will you do to help get Pharmacare across the finish line?
  3. Will you commit to supporting legislation to lower the cost of patented drugs?
  4. Will you support an intellectual property waiver to ensure countries that don't have the vaccine currently can manufacture and distribute it on their own?
Indigenous Rights
  1. Have you read the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's 94 calls to action?
  2. What will you do to implement the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's calls to action?
  3. How will you act on the recommendations from the Inquiry on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Girls and Women?
  4. What will you do to ensure the federal government provides adequate support for  Indian Residential School survivors?
  5. What will you do to educate the public about the legacy of Residential Schools and ensure an indigenous-led process of commemoration?​
